Lecture 13

color coded resistors

Overview of the program

  1. Agenda lecture 13.

  2. Presentation of the conceptual design of a two-stage amplifier

Presentation of the SLiCAP design report, which comprises a description of the design steps from the specification of the amplifier until the design of a concept of a two-stage amplifier with frequency compensation.

    1. SLiCAP design report (open the html/index.html file in your browser): Lecture13SLiCAP.zip.
    2. LTspice files of the two-stage concept: LTspiceDualStageConcept.zip.

Homework

  1. Study the design of the two-stage amplifier and give an implementation of the unity-gain inverting current amplifier which is used in this concept in CMOS18 technology.
  2. Check the noise performance and the frequency stability of your solution and, if necessary discuss ways for improvement.
  3. Check the frequency stability for the case in which the antenna is disconnected from the amplifier and, if necessary discuss ways for improvement.
  4. Find ways to limit the bandwidth of the active antenna, such that out-of-band intereference signals do not degrade the performance of the active antenna.
  5. Update your SLiCAP report (in such a way that you can use it for your exam).
